The result of the 4th All America tournament

North America team won the 4th All America online karuta tournament. Congratulations. This time, Mr. Uchikawa, Ms. Goto, and Mr. Jimi attended as the special guests at the Online opening ceremony and Mr. Jimi played exhibition matches with 6 players after the tournament. Thank you very much!!!


Sao Paulo Meguriai karuta club posted the detailed review of Meijin & Queen title match held on January 9, 2021. It is well-done review! The pages are written in Portogues but can use translator on the site to know most of the meaning.

US Karuta competition will be held on March 3rd @Bethesda Elementary School.

Genpei-sen for beginners is free of charge. Everybody who can read Hiragana will enjoy the games! If you are interested, please see the brochure.

We will exhibit about 100 precious photos taken by Annette Finestone (102 years old) just after the end of World War II (1946~1947).

Jan.14 New Year Karuta Competition

Jan. 14 Competition @Bethesda Elementary  School

 If you can read Hiragana, you can attend Genpei-sen. (Free of charge to attend)

All Genpei-sen attendees (first 50 players) will receive attending gift: Karuta cards from the Meiji period (more than 100 yeras old); Hyakunin isshu rice cockies; and Sushi-candy (first 30 people). Please register beforehand. 




Jan 14, 2018 US New Year Karuta Competition

We are planning to have the 2nd US New Year Karuta Comepetition on January 14, 2018 in Betehsda, Maryland.

Gempei devision for beginners—2 people as a team

Kyogi Karuta devision–equivalent levels as F, E, D classes in Japan’s official competition.

Karuta practice November 2017

November  Karuta practice will be held on the following Sundays

from 3 pm to 6 pm in Falls Church. Sorry we don’t have a practice on November 5 as our members will visit Detroit Museum for Kyogi Karuta Demonstration and lectures.
